Connor and Liz are other people that have to be effective jobs they don't particularly like in order to meet their basic requires. They are pragmatic and sarcastic and have absolutely a snobby sense of superiority within the idle rich. George, in most other memories, would be the leading man. He's a guy who began working in the fossil fuel mine and has risen becoming a top executive in the organization. George is the self-made person, though perhaps with just a little help from his likely father-in-law. But in The Philadelphia History, George is the schmuck. He doesn't have your "breeding" or style or mischief on the genuine elite. But he's got enough money to get pretensions and bull-headed thoughts that working class people can't afford to use. In many ways, George represented the future which was coming to American while this movie was designed, but these filmmakers didn't think a lot of that future. The Philadelphia Story Review The ending, with its Old Community sense of class propriety, also isn't something you'd find in lots of American stories of any sort told after this.
